Saints of the British Isles

How Did Christianity come to Britain?

Curious ?

All funds go to the St Stephan of Perm mission.

Who was DEWI SANT?   Was St Winifrid martyred?   Where was St Patrick born?

What was St Hilda’s role at the Synod of Whitby?   Where does King Arthur fit in?

How about Old King Cole?      Did King Brychan reeally have 24 children    Were they really all saints?  .. all 24 of them?          Why did Wifrid go to Rome 3 times?

. .  and what about Lady Godiva?

Thirty Days with  St Patrick

A prayer guide based on St Patrick’s breastplate

By Robert Davies

Probably written in 433 AD as Patrick prepared himself to defy the Arch-Druid Lochru by lighting the first Easter Fire on the Hill of Slane and then celebrate the Easter Liturgy on the Hill of Tara before Leoghaire, High King of Ireland, these prayers stand out admirably as a means of spiritual strengthening at any time, but particularly when we face a crisis.

The book covers thirty days, so there are several ways it can be used. The first thirty days of Lent, leading up to but not including Holy Week, come readily to mind; as do the thirty days before Christmas. [The Celtic Church in the first millennium had a third 40 day fast for the Holy Spirit, which commenced eight days after the Feast of the Fiftieth Day Pentecost or Whitsun]. Another idea for using the book is as a weekly discussion for older Sunday School or Young Adults groups over thirty weeks.Of course, it can be used in any month or over any thirty day period.
